By Penny Bennett

  JULY 17, 2026 --

Here at the Killingly Grange, we might be in the “quiet corner “here in Connecticut, but we want you to k now we are far from quiet. Join us and have some fun!

Did you ever wonder why the chicken crossed the road? It’s because they want to get as far away as possible from the Killingly Grange who is having a chicken barbeque on Saturday June 14. Join us for a delicious meal of chicken, potato salad, corn, roll and watermelon.

For all you music lovers out there! On April 25 Nick Anderson hosted The Gospel Friends Reunion along with Jonathan Chapman and Tim & Vickie St. Jean and mc Clyde Proch . Many folks joined us for a gospel sing along. The old schoolhouse vibe of the Grange Hall provides the perfect setting and acoustics for concerts. All the musicians are offered their talent for free. The program last year was a huge success we collected over $700 and donations were made to the friends of Assisi (food pantry) and the Killingly Grange construction fund. Delicious food prepared by Grange members and beverages were provided for purchase prior to and throughout the show. The doors opened at 6pm and the concert started at 7pm. For more information, please contact Nick @(860)-564-1018 or email: hawksnestfarmplainfield@gmail.com .

The Killingly Grange is the venue for a monthly Bluegrass concert on the 4th Saturday of the month October-April (excluding December.) The program is hosted by “Nick Anderson and Shady Creek.” Nick also invites a different guest band each month, drawing bluegrass bands from CT, RI. and MA. The concerts have been running continuously since 2000 with the exception of the Covid year.

For more information you can check out Nick Anderson and the Shady Creek on Facebook.

All the little piggies headed home because Pat, our devoted secretary, is also a great cook, prepared a pork roast dinner on May 15.

Recently several of our members celebrated Glenna Bruno 100th birthday with her loving family and many friends. She was presented with her 60th year seal by Noel Miller, State Grange Exec. Committee. Glenna thru the years has been a blessing to those of us fortunate to know and love her.

We also received sad news one of our oldest members passed away Josephine Stenbeck. Josie was 101 years old and a 60-year member of our Grange. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her and loved her.
